FMC/VITA Module Races At 1.5 GSamples/s
Jun 3, 2009 3:09 PM

The quad-channel ADC513 field-programmable-gate-array (FPGA) mezzanine card (FMC/VITA 57) module features a 1.5-GSamples/s analog-to-digital-converter (ADC) card with 8-b resolution for demanding RF downconversion, software-defined-radio (SDR), and signal-intelligence applications. The module eliminates data bottlenecks to increase DSP subsystem performance by routing high-speed ADC input/output (I/O) directly to the host board’s FPGAs via the FMC connector.

According to Lynn Patterson, Vice President and General Manager of Modular Solutions for Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing, “With its quad channels, the ADC513 is our highest density FMC module. It provides a balance between channel density, high-speed data sampling and data throughput rates unmatched in the industry.” It is available in both conduction- and air-cooled versions and features two ADC08D1520 ADCs from National Semiconductor, with each of the four ADC channels supporting rates to 1.5 GSamples/s
