High-performance WiMAX antenna
Apr 24, 2008 3:36 PM

Laird Technologies, Inc. has released a suite of dual slant 45 WiMAX base station antennas. There are several product options available that operate across the 2.5 GHz frequency band and the 3.5 GHz band. All of these high-performance WiMAX antennas are small in size, offer consistent and reliable performance, and are designed to be fully compliant with ETSI pattern specifications, stated Laird Technologies.

Currently, there are four dual slant 45 antennas available: 2.5 GHz 65-degree, 2.5 GHz 90-degree, a 3.5 GHz 65-degree, and 3.5 GHz 90-degree. According to Laird Technologies, WiMAX antennas in this suite are aimed at maximal ratio combining (MRC), MIMO, and other wireless WAN applications. These antennas offer a highly predictable pattern and consistent performance that will be appreciated by operators deploying WiMAX mobile and fixed networks, asserted the manufacturer. The units provide polarization diversity and the high performance operators could use to mitigate the impact of multipath that often results in poor coverage areas.

Other features include low sidelobe performance, excellent front-to-back ratio, and high level co-located antenna-to-antenna isolation. As a result, it offers precise antenna pattern that minimizes interference and helps the operator create a trouble free wireless network. In addition, the antennas include a rugged tilt-mount hardware kit.
