Niagara bottling deploys Xirrus Wi-Fi arrays to achieve high-throughput wireless across six bottling plants
May 12, 2008 2:11 PM

Xirrus, Inc. has deployed Wi-Fi Arrays across Niagara Bottling’s six plants – increasing the efficiency, productivity, and flexibility of Niagara’s operations.

Niagara Bottling is the largest American family owned bottled water company, supplying private-labeled water to many of the nation’s largest grocery retailers, club stores, and convenience chains. Like any market-leading organization, Niagara Bottling was desirous to automate their warehouse operations by replacing legacy wired clients with wireless – forklifts equipped with wireless tablets and workers outfitted with wireless handheld scanners – allowing for improved tracking and real-time synchronization of data with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.

“For our wireless network to be successful, it was imperative we have pervasive coverage throughout the warehouses and have the same high speed connection and reliability we were accustomed to with our wired architecture,” said Canaan Reich, CIO at Niagara Bottling. “The Xirrus Wi-Fi Array effectively replaced our wired connections. We are seeing improved operational performance due to the wireless solution we put in place—and the Xirrus’ Wi-Fi Array architecture made this possible.”

“Our customers want to replace wired connections with wireless to increase the efficiency of their network and to be more flexible with network changes,” said Charles Bettinelli, regional manager at Xirrus. “We have the only Wi-Fi solution that can replace 24- and 48-port workgroup switches—no other Wi-Fi vendor can supply the coverage, bandwidth, user capacity, or security per port as Xirrus can.”
