Wi-Fi Services in Asia to Reach Nearly $1.3 Billion in 2010
Jan 10, 2006 3:51 PM

The market for Wi-Fi services in the Asia/Pacific region, though currently in flux, will grow strongly from $213.2 million in 2004 to $1.29 billion in 2010, according to new reports from In-Stat. In recent years, service providers in Asia/Pacific have significantly expanded or have drawn ambitious plans to expand their hotspot coverage, especially in markets like South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and China, the high-tech market research firm says.

"Some telcos' movement toward Wi-Fi is still in fits and starts, however, which shows the inconsistency of the long-term Wi-Fi business strategy," said Bryan Wang, In-Stat analyst. "The market is looking for a proven successful business model for Wi-Fi technology to fit into the telcos' existing voice and data services future development roadmap."

The reports, "Asia/Pacific Business Wi-Fi Market Trends Analysis," and "Asia/Pacific Consumer Wi-Fi Market Trends Analysis," (#IN0502396ANT and IN0502397ANT) cover the markets for Wi-Fi services, and business and consumer Wi-Fi equipment. They include forecasts for Wi-Fi services and equipment by region and by country through 2010. Country-specific market highlights and service provider analysis are also provided.
