Linear Technology Corp.’s LTC2366 is a 12-bit successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that outputs data at up to 3 Msps in tiny 6- and 8-lead TSOT-23 packages. Operating from a single 2.35 V to 3.6 V supply, the LTC2366 consumes only 7.2 mW at the maximum output rate, a 20% power savings over the nearest competitor, according to Linear. With its tiny footprint and very low power dissipation, the LTC2366 is suitable for a variety of portable and space-constrained applications, including medical devices, communication systems, and industrial monitors.

Power dissipation can be further decreased with a shutdown mode that reduces the supply current to 2 µA (max). The specifications are guaranteed across the –40 °C to +125 °C temperature range. Communicating via a serial SPI/QSPI/Microwire-compatible interface, the ADC offers no data latency and achieves excellent DC specifications of ±1 LSB INL and ±1 LSB DNL. The converter also offers high performance when digitizing AC signals, said the manufacturer. Other key features include 72 dB SNR, -80 dB THD, and 82 dB SFDR at a 1 MHz input frequency. The LTC2366 is available in commercial, industrial, and automotive temperature grades. Pricing begins at $1.25 for 1,000-piece quantities.
