Fractal Antenna Systems, Inc. has added VHF frequencies to its Universal Access Ceiling Monopole (UACM) antenna. The UACM antenna delivers wideband performance in one of the most compact (11.8 inches x 4.6 inches) units available for distributed antenna applications, stated the supplier. For developers adding in-building wireless systems, VHF coverage provides a key link to police, fire, EMT, and security communications through its continuous operation from VHF into C-band microwave frequencies, added Fractal Antenna Systems. In addition, the UACM antenna covers cellular, WiFi, WiMAX and other high-speed wireless network bands.

With its light weight of 1.5 lbs, compact fractal design, the UACM antenna is easily installed on typical ceiling panels. The antenna’s wide frequency range protects in-building wireless infrastructure investments by future-proofing the installation as new standards and frequency allocations emerge. At higher elevations between the antenna and the signal source, the antenna offers high gain, avoiding typical room barriers, such as cubicle walls.

Operating over 150 MHz to 6 GHz, the UACM antenna delivers excellent omni-directional coverage, with gain of approximately 4 dBi, even at relatively low frequencies. The product is available, said the manufacturer.
